Soldati del 3° Reggimento Alpini salgono su una montagna insieme ai paracadutisti dell’esercito americano assegnati alla 173a Brigata Aviotrasportata durante un’esercitazione integrata sul campo. Questa esercitazione fa parte di Steel Blizzard al Pian dell’Alpe a Usseaux.
L’esercitazione Steel Blizzard è un’esercitazione di addestramento di guerra artica e di montagna ospitata dall’esercito italiano. Tre plotoni di ricognizione della 173a Brigata Aerea prendono parte a un corso di addestramento in tre fasi con il 3° Reggimento Alpini per espandere le capacità delle forze imparando a sparare, muoversi e operare in condizioni montuose e artiche. Nel corso dell’addestramento, questi paracadutisti imparano diversi metodi per sciare e attraversare le montagne, impegnandosi in combattimenti mentre sciano e operando al fianco degli alpini. Questi eventi giocano un ruolo chiave nell’ulteriore sviluppo delle capacità di relazione, interoperabilità e missione di entrambe le forze.
La 173a brigata aviotrasportata è la Forza di risposta di emergenza dell’esercito americano in Europa, che fornisce forze rapidamente schierabili alle aree di responsabilità del comando centrale, africano e europeo degli Stati Uniti. Dispiegata in avanti in Italia e Germania, la brigata si allena regolarmente insieme agli alleati e ai partner della NATO per costruire partnership e rafforzare l’alleanza.
