Gli Stati Uniti hanno accorpato l’US Army Europe con l’US Army Africa creando un nuovo Comando “congiunto” che sarà chiamato U.S. Army Europe and Africa (USAREUR-AF).
Tutte le unità assegnate all’Army Africa verranno assegnate all’ USAREUR-AF.
Cambia anche di conseguenza l’U.S. Army Africa/Southern European Task Force che sarà designato U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF).
Il comandante sarà il Generale Christopher Cavoli, già comandante dell’U.S. Army Europe.
L’USAREUR-AF avrà la responsabilità di tutte le operazioni militari e degli assetti in Africa ed in Italia e si coordinerà direttamente con l’U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM).
Attualmente l’U.S. Army Europe è basato a Wiesbaden,Germania mentre l’Africa a Vicenza. Non è ancora chiaro se questo cambiamento organizzativo sarà seguito da un trasferimento logistico.
